Breath 14

This is the piece I did over Winter Break. I thought we were only supposed to do one, but it was actually supposed to be 2.

Well anyways this is a portrait I did of the little boy I babysit. His Name is Joshua. I did it while he slept. I think I did ok on it. It's not my best piece. But it's the first time I've worked on canvas board.. I liked how the paint went on it smoothly.

Concentration Statement

The Central Idea of my concentration is to show the diversity and culture of the world thru landscapes using various mediums.

Breadth 13 : Draw an Interior

For these 2 weeks I only had to do one piece because I was working on the Float for the founders day parade. This piece was done in black and white charcoal on white paper. And it is what it is. A drawing of my bathroom.

Breadth 12: Draw a drawer in Charchol

This assignment was a pretty random breath piece, but I liked it. We had to draw an open drawer in charcoal, and drape something to create movement. I drew on gray matt board, with black and white charcoal.the reason I chose grey matt board was so that both the highlights and the darks could be shown .I have some perception issues, but I tried my best. I think that it came out pretty well in the end. I especially like how the fabric ended up, I had no idea I would be so proud of it.

Breadth 11: Self Portrait in Oil

We were studying expressive self portraits at the time, so our assignment was to make one. I did mine on canvas with oil paint. I really love to use oil , because I feel like the piece becomes more personal, especially when doing a self portrait. When I do oil I like to use a palette knife to create texture. I really love this piece, it's my favorite piece that I've done this year.

Breadth 10 : Still Life in Chalk Pastel

During this set I had time to do both my pieces in class so I did another still life. The still life is of cow skulls, and it was interesting to draw. I drew on gessoed matt board, with chalk pastels. It was my first time using chalk pastels, but it was fun. I'm really liking these mini labs because I feel like the quality of them is MUCH better than my larger pieces because I have time to work slowly and then go back and fix things.

Breadth 9: Still life in oil

For this pair of assignments we did still life's. This one is of 3 apples and a banana. I did it on a piece of canvas, and in oil paint. It is a small breath piece.I think I did pretty well on it. I really like to paint in oil. Even though most people like oil because it can make a painting look smooth, I perfer it because I can make things look texturized. I like Everything except the Apple on the right , I began to burn out when I was doing it . Over all I think that it was preety sucessful.
