Concentration:Pyramids

So this is my final piece for concentration. I'm a bit sad, but also relieved. I chose to do the pyramids because they represent Egypt which is a part of me . It was fun to paint the desert because I haven't done anything like it this year.

Concentration

This piece is of Cabo. I've really been wanting to paint an ocean and rock scene.I used watercolor and colored pencils. I really loved the turquoise with the gray rock. I wanted this piece to be a bit more illustrative rather than realistic . I like how it turned out.

Concentration: Gorme Valley

Hey well this concentration is of a mountain range in Greece. I used Watercolor, Colored pencil, and chalk.

Castle Concentration

]I really have been dying to paint a building. I really love castles because they are so magical.. Right? They're in all the fairy tales. I did this in Watercolor with a little colored pencil. I wanted to be very pastely but I think that the bushes on the bottom destroy that. I might go back and add some colored pencil to the Castle to make it stick out.. It might make the piece stronger...

Concentration

This was my next concentration piece. It actually turned out to be one of my favorite pieces out of everything I've ever done. I think I did really well on it. It is a scene of trees in a park, and it is done in Watercolor and colored pencil. I really love this one.

Lino Print

This time we are doing Linoleum Prints. I'm not very excited because I hate using Linoleum. The Entire process just annoys me. We had to study printmakers and illustrators. Our Print had to be based on an Idiom So mine was " A few sandwiches short of a picnic".

Concentration: Aurora Borealis

So this a piece for my concentration. I've done very few skyscapes so I decided to add this one. The Aurora Borealis or otherwise called the northern lights are natural lights caused in the sky around the poles where their magnetic fields are the strongest. I think that this piece is alright. I really wanted the black to be VERY dark so I could show how bright the sky is. I'm glad that I did it in Acrylic , because I don't think that water color would have worked very well.

Linoleum and Concentration research.

For this assignment in class the instructions are to do a series of linoleum prints . We have been studying the style of Ukiyo-e prints, and Ancient Japanese printmaking. The style should be idealized and illustrative. I love the detail and colors of the prints. I think that the technique of doing the print then going back in with water color is a really smart idea and I love how it adds to the picture. I still don't know what my subject will be, therefore I will continue to research.

For my next concentration piece I'm thinking about doing maybe some caves, or rock formations.
Like Stalagmites and stalactites or maybe mines.

Concentration : Aurora Borealis

I like doing concentration. It's more relaxing. I really love doing landscapes. The earth is so beautiful. Landscapes are so vast and original, so I love to paint them, You can't get bored. This piece I did a sky scape of the Northern Lights. The Aurora Borealis is caused by the magnetic pull at the top of the earth. The Lights are amazing because the come in so many different colors, and sizes and shapes. I don't have the picture yet,but I will put it up soon.

Embellishment Project

For this assignment the theme was embellishment. I did A lot of projects and just couldn't get the idea out. I started over 4 times, and I did the best that I could.

Embellishment and HW Research

I'm really excited about this project. It seems like it's really going to be a lot of fun and work. If the piece turns out well then it's going to be worth it.
I have been looking at Lisa Kokin : http://www.lisakokin.com/
I really love what she is doing, and how amazing everything looks. She really is inspiring me to think out of the box for this project.

I'm also looking at Marilyn Greene: http://cqmagonline.com/vol03iss01/articles/art236/art236.shtml
I'm Thinking of doing some "quilting: methods and using different types of fabrics.

I'm really interested at beaded pictures . Beads are so versatile , and there are so many different types so the possibilities are endless.
I found a couple of different artists for this:
Julie Wishmeyer : http://ms.smartypantsknowitall.com/archives/28

For my concentration piece I'm thinking of either doing a field of flowers in Oil or a lily pond in acrylic... I'm still thinking..

Mono print 3

This is the third mono print that I did. This is off the plate. I Like all the media that I used to make it. The bottom original layer was with oil paint. When it dried I went over it with chalk pastel in some places and acrylic paint in others.

Mono Print 2

This is the second mono print I did. I used oil paint again. I painted straight on the glass. I had to do a couple of layers to get this to print like this. After that I went back into it with acrylic. I don't really like this one. I don't like this technique I don't think that It turned out well.

Mono print 1

THis is the first mono print that I did. It is a stencil I made out of paper then I painted back into it with oil paint. The Stencil was delicate and kept breaking. Out of the 3 mono prints that I turned in I like this one the best. It takes for ever to do, which is why I did the other two differently.

Concentration

This is a painting of a water fall I did . I had to do a lot of research on how waterfalls looked, How the rock behind it looked etc. For the rock in the background (behind the waterfall) I used a small rock to paint the texture and then I just blew the rock up. I like painting water because it's looks very nice if done right. I think I did pretty well on this piece. I really enjoy doing landscapes.

Breath 14

This is the piece I did over Winter Break. I thought we were only supposed to do one, but it was actually supposed to be 2.
Well anyways this is a portrait I did of the little boy I babysit. His Name is Joshua. I did it while he slept. I think I did ok on it. It's not my best piece. But it's the first time I've worked on canvas board.. I liked how the paint went on it smoothly.
